           We usually see two main types of TPMS in the shop:

            Direct TPMS uses sensors inside each tire to measure the actual air pressure.

            Indirect TPMS relies on existing wheel speed sensors to pick up pressure changes.

           Direct TPMS gives us more precise readings. Each tire has a sensor (usually on the valve stem) that sends real-time pressure data to your car’s computer.

  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;

    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           If a tire loses air, the sensor picks it up right away and the warning light pops up on your dash. No guessing, no surprises.

  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;

           Indirect TPMS works a bit differently. It watches how fast each wheel spins. If one tire’s low on air, its diameter shrinks, so it spins faster than the others. The system notices and throws the warning light.

  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;

    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           When you see the TPMS light—it looks like a tire with an exclamation point—don’t ignore it. At least one tire needs air, and it’s better to deal with it before you end up stranded.

           Tread depth matters a lot for grip and stopping power. Once your tread drops to 3mm or less, it's time to start shopping for replacements.

           At that point, water can't escape as easily and your odds of hydroplaning go way up. You can do a quick check at home with a quarter. Stick it in the groove, caribou down. If you see the top of the caribou's head, your tread's too low.

           We look for nails, leaky valve stems, or bead leaks when you come in. Sometimes it's fixable, but old tires or bead damage mean it's time for a new one.

    &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;

           You might notice bulges, waves, or soft patches on the tread or sidewall. Sometimes you even see cords poking through the rubber.
          &#xD;

    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
        
            ﻿
           &#xD;

           Heat and age usually cause separation, but running tires underinflated only makes it worse. If we spot separation, we won't let you drive out with that tire. It's just not safe to wait.

           We recommend swapping out tires once they hit 6 years old, no matter how good they seem. Manufacturers recommend never to use tires past 10 years from their manufacture date.
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           You’ll find the manufacture date stamped on the tire’s sidewall. Check for a code that starts with "DOT" and ends with four numbers.
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           Those last four digits tell you the week and year the tire was made, like, "2319" means the 23rd week of 2019.
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;

    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           Don’t forget to check every tire, including your spare. People sometimes find their spares have never touched the road, but after 15 years, they’re just not safe anymore, even in an emergency.

           As we just passed the first long weekend of many this summer, It is always wise to complete a pre-trip inspection on your vehicle. Below are some helpful tips to ensure you and your loved ones are safe on the road when going on a trip to the cottage, camping in the woods, or anywhere the open road may take you his summer.
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           –  Ensure that all lights on the vehicle are working. Check your signal lights on the front and back of the vehicle, brake lights and if applicable to your vehicle; fog lights. If you find any burnt out lights, they are usually simple repairs. However, if you face some challenges when changing a bulb, a quick stop to an automotive repair facility to change them will have you back on the road in no time.
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           –  Check to make sure all wipers are working, and that your washer fluid is topped up.
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;

           –  Check the tire pressure on all tires, don’t forget to check the spare tire as well! If your vehicle does not have a spare tire, make sure that you either have an air compressor or a can of something like “Fix a Flat”. Be aware that these are not permanent repairs, and a visit to an automotive shop is recommended so that a technician can address the cause of the leak.
          &#xD;

    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;

           As our very first blog post we were not sure what to write about. We sat and brain stormed, and we still were not sure. That is, until we saw a video about our two favourite things, cars and animals.

    &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;

           Nissan released a video of a concept SUV that they have come up with that really focuses on the heart of many families, our four legged friends.
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           This concept SUV has everything a dog owner could wish for. Starting with a dog wash for those muddy days at the park, a blow dryer for after their shower, a ramp to help them into their comfortably padded seating area, a two way camera so they can see you and you can see them (our favourite feature), a treat dispenser (their favourite feature) and many more amazing dog friendly elements.
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           Unfortunately, this amazing dog focused SUV isn’t in production yet. Maybe one day Nissan will realize how many dog loving families are out there and bring this SUV to life. Until then, discussing other car related topics can help pass the time until hopeful production begins!!
